    Re: Green King Kong?

    Photoshopped?
This shade of green would be really hard to create. It would require very lightly colored melanophores with iridophores transforming it to light blue, followed by an overlay of xanthophores with strongly yellow pigments.
My best guess, in english, a very faded black king kong with strong tints of yellow from an underlying wine red color that is deficient in red.

Hahaha!! I'm quite crazy, ignore me

    @ Alvin & Newlife,

Not mine, came across this on the Internet.
Years ago I once had a pc from a breed out that's dark or dirty green in color, doesn't look nice, but this jade color, as Newlife so coined, looks cool though. Don't mine to have a colony of this shade in my tanks.

    @ Navanod

I wouldn't know if this was photoshopped. I'm no good at photography. Will check with my company's "expert" after the holidays.

Not sure about the difficulty for these shrimps to "mutate" into this shade of green though. Afterall, I've seen this shade of green in the flesh in Green shrimps, in fact there are even those with neon green, but the neocaridinas lack the trademark whites though.

Cool uh.. i like this colour the most..i think it is named blue jelly or something in taiwan..
makes me wonder how many more variations are there..

maybe one day we should collate all different colours of KKs and post it into one thread for viewing pleasure hehehe

yes, there are 2 type of blue bolts, one is green based, one is blue based. Blue based can get very dark blue when matured.

    @ leefhker

That's the beauty of this strain, ever so often, they'll produce a pleasant surprise for the avid breeder. Maybe some super breeder will come up with a Jade Tiger in no time.

    @ Silane

You managed to produce a colony of green yet? Perhaps you can breed out this color and name them Jade KK as Newlife has coined. I would be interested to purchase them.

    Re: Green King Kong?

    Ebi,

Not sure want to go that direction, last time has throw out of dirty green, but there were treated as cull. It seems that darker color series are still preferred, and thats also the conclusion from bigger kk breeders in Taiwan. Personally, I think this gain popularity or not, and regard as a mainstream or cull will depend on Japan.

Regarding source of this variation, I think you guys are more familiar with me in Taiwan.

Actually, culls are more like shrimps with undesirable traits. Does not mean they do not breed true.. I think.
