    I think it has to do with their survival instinct. If not, they would have ended up in the belly of their natural predators.

    It's more to do with how we house them. If the tank was dimly lit you will see them more often in the open. Once they realise there are no other fish in the tank except them, they will come out from hiding. Rivulus cylindraceus are never shy on the other hand.

    Yes, I agree with you that our husbandry plays an important role. Individual fish behavior may also be different. I have never kept cylindraceus before so I don't know how they fare in captivity. However, I do find their cigar shape body rather cute. Still looking for the Cascada de Soaro population....

    The population of "Cascada de Soroa" is probably the same as the "Cascade de Soares" population that is also in the hobby. The auction on Aquabid contains info that is probably wrong, specifically on the location. The falls of Cascada de Soroa is in the Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra del Rosario, in Pinar del Rio province, not Regla, Havana province.
