White Spots medicine - Waterlife Medizin P

I have this persistent white spot problem that does not seemed to go away; and it has been for months now, ever since my one-time-only mistake of not able to resist the temptation of buying a fish from the tank of a LFS..

I have finished dosing a big bottle of the Waterlife medicine (strictly according to instruction on the label) but the problem still came back to haunt me. And I continue to buy a bottle of Medizin P of Waterlife, but I thought it is different this time round..

I have never had the problem of fish grasping for air after I dose.. but this time for this new bottle, even if I switch off my CO2 right from the morning, my fishes will all be gasping for air once the medicine is in.

Also, I thought the required dosing frequency has changed.. I thought it used to be 4x but it is now 3x (Day 1, 4 & 7)..

Has anyone noticed the change?

I hate the sight of my fish dying gasping for air (and eventually died).. is there another medicine that is more effective than Waterlife, and will fix the persistent white spot problem ? I cant use salt because it is a planted tank.

Does the medication contain methylene blue? If yes, you must increase aeration or the fish will suffer from lack of oxygen. I use Sera Costapur to deal with white spots, but it contains malachite green, which can be deadly in the long term since it can cause some side effects in the fish. Another alternative is Sera Protazol, but this medication is quite concentrated so not advisable for use in small tanks.

To fix the issue you must catch and isolate any affected fish. It would be best that you try and catch all the fish into a separate hospital tank for the time being, say about 2 weeks or so. Without a host the parasite cannot complete the life cycle in the tank. In planted tanks that use chillers, their life cycle is lengthened by a few days, so if you do this isolation treatment, the fish must be kept away from the affected tank and treated in the hospital tank for about a month or so. After that you can re-introduce the fish into the old tank.

Assuming your fishes are normal tropical fishes, the correct medicine should be Waterlife Protozin. its effective and plants safe, i have used it before to treat whiterspot.
Medizin P is for cold water fishes only.

That's it.. this is the one (Waterlife Protozin) I used the last time that does not cause that serious gasping symptom for my fish.. and the dosage I remember was 4x instead of 3x in 7 days.
Wil buy the Protozin instead.

Waterlife products are awesome in my experience.

But treatment of planted tank with whitespot outbreak is often tedious and unsuccessful leading to unwanted casualties. What is the temperature of your water? If it's really cold, u may want to bring it up alittle to 27-28 in the course of medication treatment. Of course if u are keeping low temperature plants, that step will be a no no then. Good luck.
