    Hi,

Was trying out another canister eheim 2026 and after running for 30 mins, it started to have pool of water at the handle location where the power cord is located.

Had tried taking out the O-ring and grease it but seems like same thing still happen.

Read online and seems like people are suspecting either o-ring or top casket is faulty.

Had attached the picture and hope to seek seniors advice.

Re: Eheim 2026 leaking at handle

There are 3 possible seals that need replacement..

the first are the set of seals on the tip of the connector - where the pipes join the head-unit of the filter.

the second is the seal at the similar location as above, except it is on the head unit.

the 3rd is the most probable cause.. it is the orange color seal inside the head that stops the water from flowing upwards during pumping action.

Other than the first set of seals mentioned above, the rest need some knowledge/experience and tools to access.

I believe there could be limited stock for seal mentioned in the 2nd point above but I believe QianHu knows how to make do and repair for you.

As for the big orange seal, I find the best way to avoid the problem is never to use the priming function of the Eheim.. just fill the water to the brim after each cleaning of filter, and turn on the power immediately after you connect back the pipes and you should be able to get the filter pumping.. that orange seal is a pain to me because I believe a small nick or catch during the priming action will cause the sealing to fail.

The red o-ring is the culprit. Send to Qian Hu for repair and do not forget to give them your canister product number for warranty purpose. If you have spare cash, purchase the installation set 1. Connect this to the intake hose of your canister. With a funnel, pour water into this installation set 1 to fill the hose with water before starting the canister. No need to use the priming function of the canister filter.

    Hope this helps!

Since most people suspect is the red o-ring, I was wondering why it only flood at one of the handle? Was thinking could it be the place with the smaller o-ring where the intake is that cause higher pressure on that area, hence causing the top casket not able to sit properly that cause the flood.

    Just my wild guess.

Only Qian hu that can do the replacement of the red o-ring as it is inside the motor compartment, which need to be open with the use of some tools. The red o-ring is not sold at the lfs as far as I know. You need to bring the whole canister there for servicing too. Prepare some cash for additional stuff such as replacement for the quick release connector o-ring and the large gasket seal. They will test the canister for leaks after the fix.

As of now, my canister is connected to the installation set 1 as I do not wish to use the priming function anymore. It was a bit of a hassle to send the canister for repair as I stay in simei and I went there thrice just to have the 2026 operating again.

Dear all, I got the top casket o-ring and the media tray rubber replaced and seems to be fine for now. Had been running the canister for the past 36 hours, no leak.

Thanks all for their valuable advices.

Re: Eheim 2026 leaking at handle

    Hi All,

My 2028 just started to have the same problem. Water is collecting at the cavity with the power cord but it is not overflowing from that compartment. Instead, the water seems to be flowing through the side frames of the filter and onto the tray from the filter stands. I replaced the black O-ring which seemed to work for a while before the leak started again.

My warranty has just ended and the filter is about 3 years and 8 months old. Not sure if it is worth my time and money to bring it down to Qian Hu to get it fixed. Do any of you know if I should call beforehand and whether it can be fixed on the spot? Do I have to empty the filter media inside? I bought the filter from NA and forgot to ask Mr Chan whether he could help me to send it to Qian Hu for servicing.

Appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance.
