These are my blue jewel clams. They are rather huge for clams, with a shell length of about 2.5 inches

I feed them green water. They can eat powdered food, like liquifry or crushed fish flakes. They filter the small particles out of the water.

Yes, they are freshwater clams, i got them in bangkok. Yes, you can rear them with small fishes and shrimps, as long as the fish is not the aggressive type that may bite the clam.

could you share how much you got tgem for and where in Bangkok?

And are they able to move around or do tgey stay stationary?

Sorry with all the questions. I've never seen clams being reared. I did happen to see a LFS selling very small clams yesterday though and was wondering if anyone even knew what to do with them.

    I have pmed you.

By right they are supposed to dig and hide in the sand. But i dont know why mine are mostly stationary, and they dont move. They move a bit sometimes and just open their mouths to filter the water.

I have such clams from LFS, they will burrow themselves in the soil/sand. As they are filter feeders, they require to feed on liquid/powdered food.
I feed them with bio plus along with my shrimps.

Which LFS did you get yours from and how much did you pay? I'm totally interested in getting a couple for my tank.

Mind sharing how you feed them? I have liquidfry. Is there a special way to feed them? Like do I have to drip the food into the shells dirextly or do I just drip the food into the tank and it will somehow get to them? Sorry for asking so much. I'm just completely new to them. I have a 3 feet tank and I'm worried the food will get lost and they won't get fed.

Hello, hopefully I'm not mistaken but these are tolerant of brackish set-ups and are edible right? Just curious as I used to dig these up in the drain behind my school when I was younger haha. The reason I ask about the brackish bit was because mudskippers were often found there too

Hi, i got mine from C328, its smaller and different from what lucasjiang is having. A packet of 8-10 pcs for $2. All shellfish or clams require higher ph environment. If not their shells will corrode and will not survive for long. I kept mine with sulawesi shrimps in ph 8.0-8.2. Got a couple in crs tank with ph 6.2-6.4. So far some died but some surviving so i think their adaptability level unknown. No specific requirement info on net. So can only trial to see how they adapt well.
