Hey bro you have a pretty simple tank like mine. You mean improving in your aquascape or condition of your shrimp? This way the bros here can guide you easily. Where did you get your orange neocaridinal? Seaview?

Bro, your soil seems to be quite thick.
Overall look smoothing.
Your rock could be potential for GH problems later. Please monitor it carefully.
I notice you used 2 HOF, are you using any media? I think it will be better you use a sponge filter and aerate the water with air pump instead of using 2 HOF. In terms of scaping, you can plant some moss as they require low light and does not need co2. Also can floating plants like frog bits or mini lettuce to help remove nitrates.
Maybe you can share more of your tank's perimeter like PH, GH, KH, Temperature?
Shrimps like high oxygenated water, IMO a sponge filter / powerhouse media like filter or air stone to aerate the water will be good. Since he already have a HOF why run 2? Unless he feels that it's insufficient, but I would suggest he uses media to help cultivate BB to breakdown ammonia and nitrate. Using the filter wool/carbon filter is not sufficient.
If not sure what a powerhouse media filter looks like you can check it out here http://www.gcshop-sg.com/product_vie...nipp=40&stm=-1. but it's costly so I suggest you can also DIY something similar or get like gex rokaboy filter but change the filter sponge to medias. Just my cents worth of opinion.
Agreed, its way too thick for such a small tank. Any reason why there's so much soil?
Water volume is important and for such a small tank, I would want more water than soil. Thick soil may also encourage anaerobic bacteria to grow and produce toxic hydrogen sulfide gas.
With that being said, its probably too late to change the soil now, so just keep it in mind when this batch of soil expires and its time to change soil.
Sponge filters are good as they do not suck in shrimplets but they're noisy and contributes to water loss due to splashes and will cause stains on the glass from the water droplets. I think HOFs are fine.
eiontay already had hornworts in the tank and that should be good for nitrate removal if the bioload is not high.
Isn't adding an airstone cheaper than that over glorified teapot? No modifications needed.
It did not come with the "Power" media and I couldn't bury it (too fat) so it was blowing bubbles just below the water surface (too tall for my then 1ft high tank) making slashes and noise without actually moving much water.
I think the powerhouse higher end models with the darker translucent body would probably work better. I had the white ceramic one.
Anyhow, like I said, hang on filters are good as long as as it fits the tank and the water level. It's all personal preferences and physical constraints
Can I ask if I keep these Shrimps with cherry or others, will that be fine?
@deone got my shrimps from sam yick and c328. I am looking for advices on my aqua scape.
@zenith82 2 HOF? Over filtering doesn't kill. Sponge filter would be an obstruction to my aqua scape. My medias for the smaller hof are just sponges and the bigger one is the default ones. Dophin H-800.
@navanod reason why there is so much soil is because I miscalculated the actually vol and when I realize is after I scape the tank. Anyway this tank wont be running for long before I tear it down. Once the plants grow in the shape I like, time for a new scape![]()
