Hi devil_xiaozhu, just out of curiosity, what is the temperature that you set and what is the kick in and kick out time? I just bought a HS28a and I have set it to 25degrees, it kicks in for ten minutes and out for slightly above an hour. Do i still need a external temperature probe?

I set at 25 degree. Kick in 5-6mins out 28mins for my hailea 130a with 1.4ft tank. It is a bit short. So I want to get the external probe. Think if u get the external probe will be even better. My another 150a kick in 25 mins rest 1.5hour at 25 degree for my 2ft setup. U also wan to get the probe ?

oh, I am still hesitating to get it modded, i just started running it, maybe i will give it a month or so to see if the performance deteriorates. Happy modding.

You might want to find the same connector used in the chiller to hook up with the external probe. I found the same connector at the top floor corner stop.
If not the other way will be to cut the cable and solder the cable together.

I took a picture of it and asked around store to store. Cant really remember the unit number. The last guy I directed to also didnt managed to catch hold of the shop name and unit. Its less then $1 dollar for the connector, just got to get the correct side. Theres a male and female sort of connector.

Hi hi Jianyuan.. I'm the last guy you directed =) I found the connector at one of the shop on the top floor. I need to get a set of the connector"male&female" and pay a labour charge for putting the probe and connector together.. Total spent about $23-24? Can't remember clearly. Went around with a picture taken from the previous post of the connector. Hope you can get it done cheaper than mine and good luck =)

Re: Where to get external probe for chiller?

Thanks everyone. I got the probe already if anyone want to go get, please be there before 6pm. I'm lucky that the sales girl stay back to do her stuff if not I would have made a wasted trip down.
But problem is after I put probe. The ratios of kick in and out timing before and after are the same. Before is 6mins kick in 28mins kick out. Now is 8.5mins kick in 40 mins kick out.

What is the tank size and the thickness of glass? How are the ambience around it like, are the chiller left very close to the walls, area well ventilated?? All these might contribute to the temperature swings.
For mine, i see a significant kick out timing with a slightly longer kick in timing. So i guess im fine with it.

I'm using a 1.4ft tank. Should be gex m size. The ambience maybe about 29-30. I'm not too sure. It's about half a feet away from the wall. Well I guess there should be enough area for ventilation. I didn't expect the ratio to be the same. I was expecting a slighter longer kick out time.

It's our nature that human always want more. I was expecting maybe an hour for kick out.

Hehe, if you wants more, you need to get a bigger chiller, a bigger tank with thicker glass, led lightset and cooler area in your room. And thats the nature of how things works. As long as your chiller kick in timing is 1/4 and stop timing is 3/4, your chiller is working very well.

Haha. Think I shouldn't be so greedy since my ratio of kick in and out is quite good. I think that i placed it at the coolest place of my house and I'm using led light. Think I should consider upgrade chiller one day.
can I ask if the vibration when chiller is running will cause the shrimp to stress out?
My chiller is beside my tank. The rainbar connected is only less than 30cm from the chiller.

You can actually add a piece of yoga mat or styrofoam to cushion the vibration from your chiller.
