Yes you have to fill the cup with a little water, otherwise you cannot see whether the bubbles are coming out.
Anyone using the UP co2 atomiser model D502. This is a 2 in 1 that comes with bubble counter as well. As there were no instructions on the packing i am a little confused. Do i need to fill the cup with water?. I came across some models that indicates on the packing that the cup need to be filled with water before it can be used.

Went along with logic to fill it with water to the half way mark. Later when wanted to relocate the position found the cup filled with water to the rim. Guess water could enter from the ceramic disc as well. Anyway no harm done atomiser functioning effectively. Thanks for the sharing.
