Can reuse filter media after 2 years of usage?

As above using Eheim substrate Pro (round shape). Can reuse it after 2 years of usage? Just decomm my shrimp tank and intend to reuse media for planted tank.

Hi Bro

I never use eheim substrate pro but i think like any other media or bio ring, you can wash it first, then boil it , then sun it, boil it again and sun it again. Lastly wash it with distilled water and it should be able to reuse again =)

To kill all bacteria . Wash it doesnt mean the bacteria will be remove =) Cheers

You really don't need to go through all that hassle. Wash it clean then let it dry in the sun. Once this is done just rinse it clean again and you can use it after. As with all things, monitor the water in the new setup would be best. It is preferable that this media did not come from a tank that has had a bout of disease.
