vic,
You using any filter for this tank?
Hi,
Had a spare tank, and lots of extra moss and ferns, so threw it all together and here it is. 11W, no CO2. Got about 20+ Bee shrimp, 2 Yamato, 1 Wood shrimp and 2 Oto. Not too sure if I want to do anything to the bare foreground. I only have some Marsilea crenata planted now.
Comments and suggestions very welcome.

is bee shrimp easy to rear? heard that it is quiet difficult to rear when compared to cherry shrimp
Filter is an Eden 304 hidden behind that big Java fern. I very crudely rubberbanded coarse filter wool to the intake to prevent baby shrimp from being sucked in.
Bees are not easy. Need low temps (under 27degC) and slightly acidic water (hence the ADA powersoil). Any little screw up and they'll start dying. I might just keep all cherry shrimps if I can't get them to survive past this summer.![]()

Hi
Your filter is very well hidden.
Never see it in the first pic.

Thanks! No choice but to keep the themometer for now since it's getting a bit warmer this past week. Monitoring the temp fluctuations. Maybe I should place it at the side tank wall where it's not so obvious.

maybe change to those smaller white ones.my comments abit silly aye?hehe...but hey...nice setup overall.if im the shrimp..i will love it!![]()
The tank looks good with the empty foreground as there is already a jungle build-up at the background.
Will the plants die without CO2?
Any idea how to keep the temperature low? Especially when it's getting hot these weeks?

I don't think it will die without co2. Many have been quite successful without co2. Just don't expect it to be blooming.. lol
To keep the temperature low, you can either use a chiller or fans. Most here uses CPU fans for the shrimp tanks.
Vic,
Wanna add another line for you signature? One more item to do on weekends, EXCHANGE PLANTS whahah...![]()

Thanks. I think I'll try to keep the foreground simple. Maybe just put in a moss carpet in the sides, leaving the middle empty. I might change the lighting cuz the reflector on the present one doesn't seem to illuminate the back of the tank.
The plants won't die without additional injected CO2 since these are mostly low-requirement plants. They'll survive from the tiny amount of CO2 from the livestock, but don't expect a fast growth rate.
I mounted a DC fan to cool the tank. Temps are so far around 25-27degC. There's some evaporation, so I top up water every 2 days.
Sleepy_lancs, that's the DIY fan mounting I was describing to you.

May i know how big is this tank?? 2 feet ??

Vic: The DIY fan mounting looks good. Can you show us how it is constructed, from what materials? Perhaps another view of the mounting. Thanks.

Juggler's tanks
Thanks for the comments.
niversphere:
The tank is 15L x 9.5W x 12H inch dimension.
juggler:
The mounting is really simple to make. I used those aluminum pieces that are used to cover the rear card slots of a computer case. Then just bend it into a "h" shape. They already come with a slot to screw through, so no need to drill holes. I stuck thick double sided tape on the sides which come in contact with the tank to prevent scratches and vibration. You can also stick pieces of rubber to do the same thing.
Future plans for Ver 1.2:
- I might paint the mounting black to blend in with the background.
- Will pull a black lady's stocking over the fan to filter the dust.
Here are the pics:
