is there a timing device to help record the kick in and out of chiller ?
i think this will be helpful in keeping track on chiller function.

Timer that record? What are you trying to do?

They do have timer that can turn on/off according to preset time.
There is also device that record how much power used.
There also data logger that record current used for period of time but it is not cheap.

There are 2 ways to do it.

    1. Get a temperature controller.

It is basically a thermometer with a power socket that will switch on or off based on preset temperatures. Use it to control the chiller's ON/OFF and at the same time, put a normal light timer on the same power socket of the controller. Of course, set the light timer to be always ON.
Since the light timer will only turn when there's power, you can set the "time" on the wheel of the light timer to "0" (midnight) and then look at it again after 24 hours to see how much "time" had the timer been ON to know how much time the chiller was kicking in during the last 24 hours.
You can DIY a temperature controller for around $80 or ask in the WTB forums to see if anyone can do one for you.

    2. Get a Thermo-hygrograph

Load a fresh piece of graphpaper and place it at the exhaust outlet side of the chiller.
When the chiller kicks in, the temperature will be increased by the hot exhaust air coming out and will be recorded as a peak on the graph. You can also see how long the chiller kicks in by looking at how long the peak is each time the chiller kicks in and out. The graph paper is normally for a week of records so you can collect at the end of the week and check to see how often and how long each kick-in is

    Re: ?? timing device

Option 1 will be the best if I'm using an external controller . But I'm try to find out the condition of my old chiller without having to camp next to it.

Maybe I should borrow a old iPhone to monitor my old chiller , haha !

and how you plan to do that? the kick in/out of the chiller if pretty much depending on the surrounding. During rainy day, it will be less and during hot day it will be more.
