Hi,I'm new here and been spending some time reading all the fantastic info here.
Will be getting my 60cmx30x36 tank this weekend and I'm having some sort of a problem making a decision here.

My idea is to do up a "Amazonian" biotope tank cause of my existing stocks of some corydoras and some tetras but I'm also kinda interested in doing up some plants(hardy ones such as Echinodoras spp.). However, the substrates cory seems to prefer is very much sandy, like Sudo sand. Is it possible plant such plants using a sandy substrate?

Bearing in mind that i'm hoping to have a less maintainence tank as possible due to the fact that i'm serving the army right now.I do hope to have some form of entertainment at home during the weekends though.
Cheers
