Hi bro
I think your KH (4.5) is pretty high because it will make your soil work harder. You can use mosura soft water. Do you have the parameter for your tapwater? I think your GH (1.7) is pretty low for crs because you need about 4 .
Tank reading using API test strips.
NO3-40
NO2-0
ph-7.0
kh-80 ppm /4.5
gh-30 ppm/1.7
I know no3,gh and kh too high, what can i do? tank been cycle for 1 month, canister filter and ada soil given by bro here. Thank you.

For my tapwater i know ph is 7 not for the kh and gh... so beside using mosura soft water to lower kh..how to increase the gh? Thank you.
The ph is pretty high if you want to keep crs.
Nitrate is a little on the high side, but water change should bring it down..
Did you switch the KH & GH reading? If they switched, the reading is just nice...
Your PH is at 7.0 which means your soil is not lowering the water already I think.. ADA soil will pull PH lower unless soil expiring..
Try to avoid using test strips, not accurate at all.. Liquid test kits are still better..

How long was the soil being use before you got it?
Look to me the Ada soil have expire it ph buffering ability.
Your KH is high which explain why your Ph is buffering at 7. You might want to do water change advise you to dip your agewater to lower ph or buy 2 to 3 carton of distill water to change and see how it goes.
last but not lest strip is off or might be expire do get liquid test kits.
bought some peat .. kh went down abit.. ph now about 6.8...
Have you finished cycling? What do you intend to keep?
Yes finish cycle.. now 3 crs , 2 yamato ,2 fire red and 5 rili.. so far rili seems to been more active.. crs .. only the large seems to be more active..
It's not possible for the KH to be higher than GH as KH is a part of GH. i.e GH is KH + all the other non-carbonate ions.
API test strips, and for that matter, their KH/GH kits, for lack of a better word, sucks. Their other test kits are fine, but if you are getting a proper KH or GH kit, go for Sera's.
i see.. thank you... lots of brother here has inform me not to use test strips.. its time to change..

Hi, i also started using JBL test strips since last month, just to save a bit of money.
Then when i see that my shrimps die every few days, i have to do something... I went C328 and bought API liquid test kit at a price lower than the other brands. But the auntie told me alot of people bought Sera's. So i trust that auntie and bought it. And they gave me discount for the PH, KH and GH.
Upon testing my tank water, then i know my GH got no reading... its simply too high. I confirm again using the JBL test strip... it fails the GH.
And for PH testing, JBL gave me less than 6.4 while Sera gave me 7.5. Such a big diff lo!
