They don't do well in small tanks, too much parameter changes. Even CRS haven removed theirs ;P

whats your space constraint? What about an normal 60x30x30 or 60x45x45? I know Seaview has quite a selection of tanks as well, theres a 60x22x28 if I remembered correctly.

    Hi bros

I dont know if that kind of tank is what you want. I saw one at superstar aquarium . It is slim and is 1.5 feet long. But it is made of crystal . It is really very nice .. Just suggesting . =)

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the tips. I might make a trip down to Seaview this weekend. I saw these "crystal glass" tanks at Polyart and C328 but they were not what I want. I'm hoping for a favorable response from the GEX supplier since I emailed them again regarding the turtle tank in the link.

    Re: stormhawk's shrimp adventures

I did call Ben at Petmart. He said no stock, probably next week. The email reply from the GEX sales person was not favourable. They only stack the 30cm Turtle Paradise but not the 45 and 60cm versions. If they had the 60cm Turtle Paradise set I would have bought it right on the spot.

If I have time tomorrow I may pay a visit to Petmart directly, since there's other LFS in the area as well so if they don't have it, maybe the rest have it.

Didn't have time to visit Petmart, went to GC instead. Ended up buying some blue apple snails since I couldn't get my tank.

I didn't notice the red specks on the body and antenna (they have 2 pairs oddly) until they were roaming in my tank. Got 5 and 1 seems to be unwilling to move out from its shell.

Haha nice... I didn't know they had those cool markings. Almost like tylos! Although I'd still stick with tylos though haha. Just got 3 babies, so cute!

I'm just crossing my fingers that these snails don't destroy my plants. They're very nice for apple snails though.

Congrats on the Tylos. Which ones reproduced?

me neither! I always thought they were pretty similar to the usual apple snails in terms of markings and all.

Haha total I have five babies. 2 from the already pregnant yellow spot I got from Matt earlier, and bought 3 baby yellows yesterday.

I don't have the tank I want yet. However, those Apple Snails I bought are growing insanely fast. The tank that I was cycling now has clear signs of microscopic animals running on the tank walls, so if anything, the cycling process is complete. If I can't find the tank I want I'll just use the same tank.

Hi Storm hawk, nice setup. Like your bonzai tree wood. Waiting for your new setup. Hopefully this time round things work out for you. I need another three week to cycle my tank. Will follow your method to introduce tylo snail into the tank. Where can I get the snail. Thank you. Cheers.
Enjoying every mins of the process. Happy Shrimping.

mincedmeat, all the snails are happily moving around and grazing. One of them has grown almost 1.5 cm of new shell in the past week. They eat whatever the fishes eat, and it's usually Carnivore Pellets.

Owls, hello and thank you. The bonsai wood has a problem, because it seems this type of wood will be coated with an insane amount of fungi in the initial days, with or without plants present. However, once algae or other plants get established, the fungi slowly disappear.

You can probably get these Tylomelania from any LFS that stocks Sulawesi shrimps. Nearest for you and me would be C328 but sometimes the snails and shrimps are in bad shape because of the conditions at the store.

I have no idea if Tylomelania breed fast but with the right conditions, these shrimp and snails will reproduce constantly. Doing proper research beforehand will help you.

I counted 4 small snails in my tank yesterday, so that's about 1 birth every week? That said, I am not quite sure if your filter can handle the waste they discharge. I am running on eheim ecco pro 2032 and i haven't washed the filter pads for close to 3 weeks - which i am not sure if i should do so any time soon.

My filter too is clogging up. And I have no idea which of my poor plants the adult tylo is eating, but I do realise my plants are disappearing! And once mated, they can have more than two babies. Last week was the third I had from the tylo I got from Matt.
