    Bros,

This has happened to me twice.

I found a dead juvenile red cherry Shrimp in my tank. It was lifeless and just drifted away when I probed it with my tweezers. I decided to leave it there for awhile before b4 clearing it. And when I retuned in 1 hour, the body was gone!

I don't think its eaten cos I only have Otos and small tetras in my tank. The dead juvenile shrimp was not that small either, ard 1cm.

Do you think the shrimp was somehow playing dead and revived after awhile?

And btw, both times happened after my 15% wc, and fert dosing (excel, dymax flora, dymax iron)

Should not be that much of a mystery. Shrimps by nature are scavengers, so most likely it was eaten by the other shrimps like mod shadow mentioned.

Playing dead is not a common shrimp behavior.
Have you checked your filter sponge? Most dead floating bodies tend to end up there.

I would say, playing dead is a behavior belonging to Sulawesi shrimps when they are in extreme stress. Very unlike for a cherry shrimp though cos they would just flick away when they sense danger.

More likely to have been eaten. I have seen my dying shrimp (not completely dead yet) being eaten by other shrimps, and seldom find complete dead bodies, if at all.
