you can use 2-3w/gallon as a guide.
you can use pl or fl light tubes and these come in 55w for pl and 36/40w for fl tubes.
if you are looking foe specialised plant tubes, try lfs.
else you can use normal fl or pl 'daylight' tubes.

Assuming your plants are not low light demanding, you will need a lot of light. Around 2-3 watts per gallon of tank water should be enough. Based on your description, your existing light fixture cannot handle the higher wattage needed. Get a new fixture, make sure it holds PL light tubes. You probably need a fixture that can hold 6 55w tubes OR 9 36w tubes.

Contact badman if you want cheaper deals. Last I heard, he was still free enough to take orders, and he may be willing to deliver to near your place as well. There are some others as well, but I can't remember. Or try Nature Aquarium. Price will almost definitely be over $200

If you can, try including fans directly into the fixture, because PL lights get very hot.

For a 6ft tank, 3WPG is a lot of lights and wattage. For such a large tank, 2 to 2.5 WPG is sufficient. Assuming the tank is 6'x2'x2', for 2.5 WPG, you'll need 12x36W PL. for 2WPG, 9x36W PL. You can check the equivalent in 55W.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

best to consider MH lights for such a size. many brothers here uses it and can advise.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

what do you mean by connected?
mh lights are normally pendant types. you can hang these lights from the ceiling or from a space frame.
