    None of these meters are truly accurate and there is always a margin of error. We can only use them as a rough guide. In any case, lower EC means less saline. Higher EC means more saline. If we go deeper into the details we will only drive ourselves crazy. Leave that for the mad scientists at the lab.

    talking about mad scientist at lab, why don't you guys send the water sample to the lab? They should be able to give you chemical analysis of it.

    If that's the case, I think the parameters taken from my first batch of shrimps makes sense now. Readings are as such: pH 8.6, GH 13, KH 12, TDS 420+/-. TDS conversion factor:342ppm. Thus giving an EC value of :1.23ppm? Since it's a positive value, the water is saline. And again, TDS is so much higher than our recommended value for CRS, So this water is definitely more saline and yes, presence of salinity in the water.

    Time for some experiment with our water

    If you have a lab that can do analysis of the water samples, perhaps a university lab, for a fee, then it might be worthwhile. I think the water may be something like half strength of a salt water mix.
