Hi all,
I want to rescape my current 50G setup.
Im trying to achieve something like this :-http://www.google.com.sg/imgres?q=aquascaping&um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=619&tbm=isch&tbnid=2EcNOqZ8dlsEWM:&imgrefurl=http://www.aquascapingworld.com/&docid=5EnrA1wT3_WNrM&imgurl=http://www.aquascapingworld.com/fpss/images/3.jpg&w=605&h=280&ei=zFpLT_KNI4HJrQfukKnJDw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=328&sig=102024725355466614187&page=1&tbnh=73&tbnw=157&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=83&ty=44
I already found a bogwood and got some rocks to setup this. Just a bit confuse on which plants to use.
Some of the plants that i've shortlisted as below
Willow moss for the bogwood branches (a bit here and there)
Foreground - Glosso
Midground - Narrow fern Java
Bankground - Bolbilis (just around the bogwood corners) not for the whole backdrop
Any other plants do you think will be nice addition to this setup or replacing the above? Thank you very much.

Advice from boss Felix
Thank you diazman. Appreciate it.
I don't know if you should add more plants to the scape given that it is already accomplished and in a league of its own. If you truly want something original, you might have to browse around for inspirations, and not just competition quality scapes, but just landscaping as a whole. It might give you an idea of what you want and then you find the resources to get it done. Bear in mind that even if the idea is brilliant and 100% original, it might not be feasible purely due to the lack of raw materials. Certain pieces of wood/rock are just one of its kind and you may never get the same shape/size for recreation.
I guess at the end of the day, what matters most is that you are happy with what you have achieved. Have fun!
edit: I noted there were traces of red at the right background. It might just well be another plant. Unless someone can identify what it is, or otherwise pick up information from the competition website - which would state the necessary details.
Need something to scratch that itchy hand of mine.

Thanks for the advice mincedmeat. I already have an idea of what i want to achieve. Above scaping is just an inspirational scaping. Not exactly the same but the concept is the same with bogwood and small plants. My current is heavily planted with tall big plants and discus. So, I intend to create scaping with depth and small faunas.
IMO I don't think wood allows you to create an effect of depth, especially if it's just one entire piece of wood used. It would have to be several pieces of wood of various sizes, and aligned in a staggered formation to achieve that effect (think of it as if you are looking at a jungle). I would personally think it might be easier to scape with rocks (might be wrong here), but it's worth the consideration.
Try looking at this website for more inspiration (http://www.aquabotanic.com/?cat=3). Should give you A LOT to think about. Have fun!![]()

Thanks mincedmeat. That was a good inspirational site. I agree, its easier to achieve depth with rocks compare to woods. I'll consider creating a nano tank with just rocks. As for my 50g tank, i've already bought the bogwood and been soaking it for close to 1 month. Just pending clearing some of the remaining plants, existing DW and 5 x discus. Already gave a way most plants around and left with a few more.
Checking around with my colleagues of the same interest before posting at Marketplace. Thanks for advice again.
Considering giant hairgrass?
Giant hairgrass grows tall. I'm eliminating all tall growing plants and want to stick to low slow growing plants. Thanks
Mincedmeat was very right. Im thinking of changing my scaping plan to scape with rocks. I think its easier to create the depth that i wanted. The bogwood i prepared, end up didnt give me the look i want. So much time wasted preparing the wood and tying weeping moss on it. Not sure to continue scaping make up with it or change scaping idea?
