Nanovod, use light stands as a substitute?![]()
Anyone knows where I can obtain this?
Recently bought 2 autofeeders from a bro here. They didn't have the clamps, but I thought I could get them off Qianhu.
Unfortunately, QH told me this thing is not sold separately (not sure real anot).
Any great DIY ideas are welcomed too
thanks!

You know what, I think I'll just find a real hard piece of foam or styrofoam and DIY a holder that can sit on the tank glass.
The clamp is optional, so it should be available as a spare part by itself. Perhaps not released yet or something, because I think the 3581 fresh out of the box does not come with the clamps for the older sets. Newer sets should have this clamp.

1: Plastic Clamp ... make a hole and screw in the locking screw. google for "Aquarium Airline Plastic Clamp" or "Algarde Clamp"
2: If you have a Drill or Dremel, use one of your extra "L" joints and make a slot to hang on your glass then drill a hole for the screw.

Yes, I could not even find a part number for it, so I knew it was a shot in the dark when I sent the picture to Qianhu. And yes, the 2 sets were old sets that did not come with the clamps.
Hmmm...I'm quite ashamed to say that I have a Dremel that had not seen action for almost 4 years after I quit computer modding and took on shrimp keeping.
That plastic airline clamp sounds promising, as well as Bro Zack's light stand idea.
Thanks guys, will update on the solution.
I have some spare Ehiem clamps if you are interested... I used the Ehiem feeders but i do not use the clamp as i sit the feeders on my glass cover.
Wah! One of the supplier said he'll look for it for me but it's been MONTHS...
I gave up hope already.
I didn't even check this thread anymore, haha! And suddenly there's someone with spare clamps!
Thank you so much bro, but PM cannot be sent!
Erm, can sms me at 9oo3825o please?
Hi bravo, don't worry bout names, nicks are sometimes better.
You're a saviour for my 2 units of eheim feeders! haha, really appreciate the clamps.
For food, might be easier to keep ghost shrimps or mass produce wild cherries shrimps. You are really spoiling your fishes bro, all the good stuff and they still don't eat.
Bro, can you keep ghost shrimps ? I can't seem to keep them for more than a day... have to take transport just to get them.. Any tricks to teach me so that i can buy more ghost shrimp to keep in my tank...
Also for wild cherries shrimps, from your experience.. how is the reproduction rate ? I need to know whether it can cater to my fishes needs... HeHe...
Sad. One of the 2 feeders ended up having a faulty "mode" button. Means I cannot set the thing to dispense any food at all! Can only set the clock...
Argh, only checked the display and the turning mechanism when I got them from a bro, didn't check all the buttons.
Ghost shrimps are very hardy, but tricky to breed. However, your feeder fish holding tank is too harsh for shrimps. They need clean water to survive.
Cherries can produce about 30 babies per female per month on average from my experience but again, conditions have to be good.
May be good for you to read up on the basics of shrimps keeping at the invertebrate forums. Getting OT here.
Bro, sad to say that some people are like. They know it is faulty in some way and they just wanted to get rid of it by selling it off.
I was a victim before also so i do not like to buy 2nd hand stuff. So for getting 2nd hand stuff, must check thoroughly. Hope you did not pay alot for feeders. Because if getting a set of 4 overseas, each ehiem feeder is only less than $38 Sing Dollar.
You are right, ghost shrimps are really handy.. i just found out that my feeder tank got one ghost shrimp (not sure where it came from and how long it has been there...) I got some dead ghost shrimp before in my 2 feet tank, maybe because i buy 1-2 packets.. could be too many and they really foul the water much faster than any other fishes, so hard to keep alive unless i WC everyday...
I will read up on the shrimp keeping and hopefully can find a balance way to keep them with much lesser WC require..
OT: If you want to keep the ghost shrimp alive for longer, just have a standby tank around 2 ft size, make sure the filter is cycled. I think they are typically young Macrobrachium lanchesteri or some Palaemonid shrimp. For those, perhaps neutral pH water would be best. As long as the tank is cycled and well oxygenated, these feeders should last for quite some time. No freshly dechlorinated tap water because these glass/ghost shrimp are some what sensitive at times. They are after all, highly stressed when at the LFS since they're crammed into a small bag. When one dies in the bag the ammonia levels go haywire and can kill the remaining shrimp.
Breeding cherry shrimp in a colony setup might be a more useful bet. You can even use Malayan Shrimp larvae to feed baby fish, especially when they are in the pelagic state before settlement.

Storm,
bravobb is mainly trying to keep his fussy tiger fish happy. Malayan larvae probably wouldn't even register. Hahaha!
That is correct.
My tigers only eat feeders, frog and ghost shrimp... All of them require me to constantly get from LFS...
Lucky for me, i got a spare 2ft tank, so i can keep red and some goldfish feeder in the 2ft tank.. so i only need to visit the LFS twice a week to top up.... if not, cannot imagine going everyday to the LFS... damned those tigers.. haha...(but i enjoy seeing them SNAP the fishes... really one of the kind.. fast and very different from other fishes like Koi and parrots...) I would like to keep frog and shrimp if possible in the future so that i can stock up for a week also... best if i can re-produce them so that i can save money on feeding them... if not i cannot eat Big Mac very often... haha...
