If I saw what I had when Amano was doing his "thing", I think he layers the top layer with powder instead as it would be easier during planting.

IMHO, the stone in the middle seems to be distracting. You might want to take a second look after settling the soil issue before planting and flooding.

Top layer finer grain will aid plants that "creep" to have a hold easier also. Mr Amano is arts director
i only feel that middle rock will be buried when foreground grows and become the hole.

Maybe after arranging rest 1-2 days and look again, the view might be lots different. When not satisfied don't flood or plant, or learn to regret later on and rescape :P

Re: My 1st Planted 31g Tank Journal

Thanks for all your concern. I will lift up the middle rock a bit so it will not be covered by HC.

But i think this will be my final scape. Bought the plants i wanted earlier. In the midst of planting now.

Post some pictures before i started planting earlier. Taking a break now as i am having back ache from all the planting.

As advise by brothers here, Bought another pack of Amazonia. Somehow its 2 different colours as my previous packet. This one is a bit darker. Slope at the back is higher now and soil deeper.

HC, Hydrocotle Verticillata, Lidwigia Arcuata, Petite nana, Crypto "tropica" and bloodstar grass. 2 pots of unknown plants (shape like grass) from y618

Root tablets in soil before planting.

More pictures coming up after planting. My smoke break over.

Re: My 1st Planted 31g Tank Journal

Flooding my tank halfway. almost 1 hour and its not half filled.

A full tank shot of tank before blooding.

    HC

    25 minutes into flooding.

Water via airtube from my filtered water.

More pictures will be up tomorrrow. Too tired to post anything. And tank not flooded fully yet.

    Hi,
Those rectangular white plastic frames under your substrate which you use to support your rocks. May I know what you call those?
And where I can buy them? What sizes do they come in? How much a piece? Also, is it possible to get black ones?

    Thanks in advance.

You could look for underground filters and use them as support of the rocks. These are optional, really. Some says it helps because it distributes the weight of the rock/s, others don't do it simply because of "aesthetics" (read: Amano - I saw him place huge pieces of rock (and I mean HUGE) in his glass tanks without these support).

Re: My 1st Planted 31g Tank Journal

Could probably be because of where your intake is currently placed. Seems like the rock is blocking a good part of the filter intake. My suggestion is to raise the height of the intake or just move the piece of rock.

Thanks for your suggestion but moving my rock will destroy the scape and i had limited space to move my intake pipe.

But anyway water cleared up moderately this morning. Doing another 40% water change now.

Wouldn't rocks affect the water parameter like gH?

Certain rock yes. Just have to make sure you purchase rocks which dont alter GH.

Is that what u all call it? All i know the scientific name is call Hydrocotle Verticillata.

YEsi must agree it does look a bit big. Hopefully when its submerged it will shrunk in size.
