Personally I partitioned my soil so that the HG dont grow into the HC lawn (they would eventually somehow, really hard to stop them not to grow.), and even if they would it will be at certain gaps in the partition which you can control them by pulling them out.

ADA gallery tanks are probably always so well kept, because they probably have dozens of workers maintaining the tanks everyday. I've seen him squeeze HC growing on wool into the gaps on rocks, not sure how they manage to grow. and also using wabi kusa in bigger, flat gaps.

jovel, it should be rockwool. It's ADA staff not LFS staff many times the difference.
Amano alone cannot scape, he is the artist brains but not the raw hands. Ever notice he only hands on on planting the rest of the events he directs what to do. A single man of his age will need to see a doctor after doing his large tanks alone..

ADA will not pull the hairgrass to keep HC lawn clean. In fact they will let it grow mixed together. It look more natural that way .

Is not wool nor rock wool, its a flat small wabi-kusa, probably slightly bigger than 50Cents coin. Quite common at japan LFS

Haha, I cannot imagine after 1year will it look more natural or messy. I wonder if we could imitate the same way by using wool? I also wonder if where could we find big rocks as centerpiece for 3ft tank. My father seems to like iwagumi style haha must complete at least once.

Well, good things don't come cheap and cheap things don't come good.

Thought it was some wool like stuff wrapped around. Yeah I know it's ADA staff, must be awesome to have so many people supporting, like doing a surgery like that haha. Maybe when I got more time, I'll try culturing some haha! Any substrate which can be moulded yet, it doesn't crumble in water?
