I think is a female
Hi Shrimp-people!!!,
I have been lurking around, teasing with the idea of trying again.
This time, removing all rocks which i previously had, started with brand new substrate, and try to keep the aircon "not too cold" so that temperature change will be not too drastic.
It has been 2-3 weeks cycling plus 2 weeks with the shrimps i bought, no casualties, fingers crossed!
Now, any bros/sister, can enlighten me, is this a male or female shrimp? I have this naggy feeling i have a bunch of females only.

it is female...
Very nice and red!
Where did you get it from? Looking for something like this.
As i expected, the most "male" looking one is female, i think i must have net all females only.
Bought from GC.
Thanks, time to visit GC!
Nice shrimp you got there! Maybe you can share with everyone else what are the parameters you are trying to keep, and also an overview of the tank.

Male fire red shrimps are normally not so nicely colored so almost all the shrimps that are sold would be females. Try to net some berried ones or look for a local breeder with males to let go

Bro nice FR you have got there. Seen them at GC the other day and was tempted to bag some home but didn't.
Your GH seems quite high, maybe you'll want to bring it down to 5 or 6?

Got to agree with Matt there. It would have been fine if it's a Sulawesi tank, but it's not.

I have been trying to bring the GH down, by using distilled water, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Was able to bring it down to 8-9, but only to go back up to 10.
Any ideas how to bring down GH? I seen the Mosura soft water product, but was hoping that distilled water change would do the trick.
