Hi mind sharing your FTS very interesting
Hello everyone! I’ve just written a post on my blog about a freshwater crab Geothelphusa dehanni. Here is an excerpt of what you’ll find there, for the rest click on the link below! Thank you for taking the time to check out this post ☺ Enjoy!

This is a small freshwater crab that is found in and around the forest streams of Japan. They are quite abundant during the warmer times of the year, Spring and Summer, where many can be found crawling around out in the open, and there are baby crabs everywhere. As opposed to the colder times of the year (Fall, and especially Winter) they tend to “shutdown” and tend to go into “hibernation” you could call it.

This is a very interesting species with various color variants. Which part of Japan did you collect this blue variant?
Nice post! If only our own freshwater crab species were more common and widespread, perhaps we could try raising them in aquariums too.
Just a note that these crabs are eaten by people; sawagani are fried and then eaten whole.

You can apparently buy them live in Japanese supermarkets *HINT HINT*

On a side note, when eating freshwater crabs, you must ensure that they are well-cooked, due to the risk of getting infected by lung flukes, a sort of parasitic flatworm that these crabs harbour. People eating raw or undercooked freshwater crabs or crayfish have ended up falling sick due to lung fluke infections.
They used to be sold at some Japanese supermarkets in SG infrequently, but haven't seen them for years.
