Re: Black Flies in my Grindal worm culture!

    Hi,

I believe the culture doesn't have a good protective screen to keep unwanted pest from it. Get some cotton wool to plug the holes or a Micropore tape to cover up any suspected gaps that's allowing these flies to enter.

I've no idea what black flies/maggots you've got but the closest that resembles your description, might just be fruit flies/mites. It could also probably be the common housefly maggots though.

Submerge the culture in water for a few minutes and repeat it. The worms can tolerate it but not the maggots/flies. This should probably get rid of all, if not most of the maggots that's infesting your culture.

    Kind regards,
    Shi Xuan
