I have a layer of oil too but mine is probably from food. I'm using Vitakraft.
I don't really care about it, never gets too thick.
Maybe manual remove? mini dust pans?

Surface scum can be remove using natural means... I use mollies.. they do take some of those stuff.. wonder why but hey they remove it..![]()
Other use paper... oil will usuall stick to it.. hmm.. you might need plenty. Best way is still add a surface skimmer.
