Get to know that red tiger Lotus should have bard. I have two big one without the bard but still grows well. Please advise if this plant with bard is better? Thanks.

Aiyah, bard is simply a goon who sing song and dance for you mah. Lotus pretty flower, some say pretty young thing also, shure must have bard bard to sing then only will grow what.

Ooops...I may have use the wrong word to describe. I do not know how to call that but it is something like a small disc structure at the root area. If all the leaves are gone and you still have this disc structure, this plant should survive and the leaves will grow again. Hope this clear up a bit. Sorry if I mislead anyone.

well I bought 2 tiger lotus recently, one from Teo with a small piece of "bard" and one from Ah Pek with no "bard". The barded one growing like crazy, the unbarded one went to become lotus plant in nirvana already []

Bought one very small Red Tiger from Ah pek sometime back and now it is still growing fine. Cannot see any "bard" but still can grow well. Do not know whether with or without will make any different; but, definitely would want to try those with the "bard".

Only Teo carry those? I'm staying in the east...hummm a bit too far. Any other place? Thanks.

AnA, Teo is very friendly, provided you speak Hokkien and can arh-ka-liao. He will go to the pond and select a nice plant with "bard", it looks very pathetic at first (should trim away most leaves) but within couple of days the "bard" will produce lots of nice leaves.

the one with the bigger rhizome will do much better
be prepared for the rhizome to dwindle to almost nothing while the plant gets established
only after the plant starts growing well will it put nutrients into the rhizome again
