    Hi everyone,
I bought this substrate today, it's called Aquasoil, I'm guessing it's Chinese in origin, but I'm not completely sure. It's clay based I can tell that by touching it. Here are some pics of the bag. I'm guessing it says it lowers the pH, but can anyone tell me whether it's nutrient rich? Has anyone used this substrate before?
    Regards,
    Jalal

    Re: Aquasoil

    Its Japanese in origin.
And I suppose it works in the same way like other brands of Aquasoil( ADA,GEX,etc).
    Cheers

Japanese in origin does not mean it will give the same results as other soils from Japanese companies. The packaging says that one bag is meant for the 60 x 30 cm tank, with a depth of 6 cm. I saw this soil before at one LFS, but not knowing what it contained, I skipped it.

    Re: Aquasoil

Unfortunately more well known japanese soils aren't available here, so I test out quite a few substrates I do see available. I bought this quite cheap compared to the local price of other substrates, $5 for 2 x 9l bags, they had it laying behind the the shop so I figured I might as well try it in a test tank to see what type of results it gives. I'm thinking about using it in an emersed setup to see how it grows the crypts I have or maybe using it in a dry start tank.

For those purposes, this soil will work fine I guess. Do you have a source of peat moss in Kuwait? They are excellent for growing crypts.
