opps did i post in the wrong folder?
Can mod pls help move to the correct one, thanks.
Hi, i am new to planted tank so got this from the resale market here from 1 of the bro here. SO thats how the Not So New come about
Only get Tank & Light.
Bought a external Canister - 500l/hr "UP" Brand , lucky can adjust the flow rate if not fish sure.
Add a disposable CO2 canister -1bps, estimate ph around 7.5 as CO2 indicator water is bright green.
Add a ANS 3000 fan, water temp around 27-28.
Thinking of changing light to a PL 24W 6500k cos the light currently is a Aquazonic T5 12000k. The plant dun seems to grow.

Your Substrate level way too high..
Noticed that you are keeping mostly mosses? They grow better and nicer in chilled water then temperature of 27-28... On warm days it might even hit 31deg...
It might not be only the light that is an issue.. By the way, if you change from a T5 to a PL, you might be emitting more heat to your tank temperature as PL is warmer..

Ideally for your tank, substrate level should be at a maximum of 3 inches, because come on your tank ain't that big at all. Too much substrate will create anaerobic zones within the substrate causing problem in the long run. Take it as time for a re-scape?What is the ideal height/depth for substrate?
so i need to remove all my plant , then remove substrate and cycle tank again?
Sorry for so many qns.![]()
ok noted, thanks
yup, PL is hotter than T5. It's hot hot hot! i thought normally people 'upgrade' from PL to T5 instead of the other way round?hehe... sorry i don't know much about equipment, but am now using a T5.
how long have you had your tank? need to give them some time to grow![]()
Kelvin is a unit of measurement of temperature. It does not mean that it is hotter when the comparing to 2800k and 10000k. It just mean that 2800k is more red and 10000k is more blue.

Here is the colour temp chart
Could someone please help me with the name of the plant on the right? Spiny looking thing on driftwood? Been seeing it at lfs but want to research on it before buying it!
Thanks in advance
Those are Eriocaulon species, typically marsh plants.
