Orange shrimp still don't see anyone breeding them here, although I've gotten saddled ones in the past (that's when their colours fade for me, when the saddle gets full) and currently am keeping them. Sunkist shrimp are neocaridina and these two interbreed as they are both neocaridina. Do note however that I am unaware of what colour the offspring would be.
I have a mixture of sunkist and golden back shrimps in my tank. The off spring is orange with a yellow strip at the back. Coloration not intense and fading also.
That is interesting! Thanks for sharing. I have a batch of green-yellows from sunkist and blue rili, but the colour has become more yellow than before. I noticed if the pH is higher the males' colours fade for me.
Any idea what's the scientific name for sunkist shrimp and golden back shrimp?
Supposedly they are both colour morphs of Neocaridina Heteropoda so that's their scientific name. No idea if any cross-breeding outside of the species has been done in order to produce these lineages though.
can share a picture of your golden back shrimp?? when you say Orange shrimps you mean Fire Orange right? Sunkist is a different Neocaridina colour morph right?
Hey bro, I only manage to get these 3 shots. I keep Sunkist and Yellow Back Shrimp in the same tank. These are their off springs. Not sure whether the two species actually crossed. Feel free to comment!
Yep, does kinda look like they crossed. I kinda like the transparent-ish one. Very clean look
Yeah, the 2nd gen kinda of some genes of sunkist and golden back in it. Hopefully the 3rd gen will have better coloration. Btw, what is the name of the offspring called?
You can name them lo after you stabilize the strain. It's always like that ma, either you call them by colour, e.g. cherry, sakura, blue rili, or you give them some fancy name like neon yellow, fire red, sunkist, etc.
Is there any scientific name for this strain or has someone come across this crossed before?
