If you want another option, consider the GEX Glassterior Slim 600L. Because of the long and slim shape, a bunch of schooling tetras will look alright in there with a low-tech moss scape. You don't have to spend money on fancy soil, just use lapis gravel and tie the moss on pieces of rocks or wood and let it grow naturally. For filtration, the cheap Eden 501 will suit your budget if you're not keen on the Slim HOFs. If you get the Eden, make sure the filter is on the same level as the tank, basically on the same table/stand. As long as you don't intend to increase any more of the fauna then this mini canister is perfect. Make sure you get a sponge pre-filter to fit over the intake pipe. Prolongs the maintenance of the filter since all you need to do is to rinse the sponge pre-filter once every 2 weeks or so, or whenever it clogs up. You will see this as the sponge contracts.

The tank costs roughly $45 I think at C328 and the filter is at $50 I believe. There are other similar filters like the Shiruba, which looks similar. If you want a non-demanding moss species, just buy several bags of Java Moss and let it creep over the bottom. As long as the water is kept cool the moss will grow fairly well.

I'm actually slightly more inclined towards the GENOAH series because it's acrylic. I already keep three species of moss so the flora is not really a problem at the moment. I'm a bit torn between a canister and a HOF, but I think a HOF may suit my needs better at the moment.

Here's a review of the GEX S Filter:-
    http://theaquaticgazette.com/2011/06...slim-filter-s/

The slim design is not bad. But I do not like the space-taking internal motor, though it may appeal to many for safety (submerged). I prefer the motor to be outside.
Thank you, I had found this same review earlier as well. Actually I have no real issues with the motor being submerged, as long as performance is not affected.

Largest Genoah tank is Genoah Shape L I think, slim type. RRP is $30, not sure of price at the LFS though. Measurements are 39 x 21 x 23 cm.

They have a complete set of a tank, slim filter and light called the Genoah R300. RRP is $132. Nice tank but I don't think I've seen it at C328 or other LFS. Measurements for this kit is 31.3 x 26.3 x 41 cm so it's a tall tank.

And also, does anyone have recommendations for a reliable HOF besides the GEX Slim? Because I don't really want to be just paying for the Slim gimmick alone if that really adds to the cost.

Eheim Liberty series, Hagen Aquaclear. I've heard good reviews for both, but I think Aquaclear is the better one.
