A piece of glass cover is not advisable, as it will be a matter of time before it is accidentally broken. Thin perspex is preferred, if available, but it's expensive and harder to cut.
Alternatively, you can go to Popular Book Store, etc to get a piece of plastic corrugated board (any color) and cut it to size with scissors. It is light and water-proof, and lasting too.

Good idea. I think I get those transparent plastic. The water bubbles keep bursting and splash onto my light.
Oops, I beg your pardon, those corrugated plastic boards I mentioned are not transparent. You need it to be transparent for the light. My light is not on top, so I can use that. If you are not going to remove it often, then glass may serve your purpose. But plastic is safer in the long run. Glass can be bought cut to size at any frame-maker shop. Make sure to ask the shop to smoothen the glass' edges.

I ordered a piece of normal (float?) glass from N30 at $15 for 60cm by 30cm; with an additional $15 for delivery (you can opt to pick it up). I have tried acrylic sheets to seal my tank before, but they warp when exposed to intense lighting. If you are looking to uncover your tank from time to time, try to make the piece of glass slightly larger than the exact surface area of your tank, otherwise you will have a hard time grabbing hold of something to lift the glass.
I saw a shop at Serangon North near Pet Mart selling tank dividers. You can ask the guy to cut to whatever size you want. He quoted a normal partition for about $4 only. It's the hardware shop next to the coffee shop (near the exit of the carpark). Next to the hardware shop is a huge bird shop, which is along "Pet Walk". The area is the near Pet Mart (2-5min walk). You can try it out!
