Hi Kim,
What happened to both the obscurus and mahdiaensis or are they really that difficult? As for the mahdiaensis, it's a stunning beauty. I hope you have a lot more youngsters from this fish.

thank for reply kim and keep me in mind if you manage to get eggs![]()

The obscurus was adult but nothing happened. I tried to treat them like atratus with low water and also as "normal" Rivulus, but no eggs. And then they just died.
The mahdiaensis ARE nice fish, but most eggs I had from my late adults were infertile.
Baitmanx, I will![]()

Kim,
Have you read this article on Mahdiaensis?
http://www.bka.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=381
Perhaps, it can help you out with the water parameters. On the other hand, breeding in single pairs may not work very well. I think, a pair might sometimes turn out to be mismatched and therefore, produce a less satisfactory result. It is really a matter of luck in this case.
P.S I have only a trio of aff. cryptocallus fry hatched from eggs I got from Killie club France. I don't know if they will turn out to be a breeding trio. If they don't, my effort will go down the drain.

Shi Xuan

Thanks for the link. I do some correspondence with Colin who wrote the article, so I am familiar with his great results on mahdiaensis and xiphidius. He's a very good breeder!
I am currenntly growing my 3 youngsters from the attemps with my previous pair to see if they are up for the task.
The aff. cryptocallus are nice. Hope you succeed.
I am going to wotk with luelingi, aff. rubrolineatus, strigatus, speciosus, derhami, recocaudatus and my last remaining Aphyosemion (coeleste) this year.

His articles are really fantastic. It gives an insight on all the species he's keeping. I think he has done a few other writeup as well. He ought to publish a book and I think it would be a good read.
luelingi is nice but extremely rare. I only know of a Brazilian who's keeping it so far.

Shi Xuan
