    Hey all bros,

I'm first time on planted tank just reset my 2ft fish tank to planted tank this week and
i got everything and setup already. As i place all my other fishes and shrimp in another tank until my planted tank is ready for them.My questions is ,

1)How long does it take the plant roots to build into the soil strongly ?
2)what to you mean water cycle and is it a must ?
3)how long do i need to water cycle before i can add fish and shrimps into it ?
(i try put 4 fishes into the tank after i setup like 3-4hrs and the next morning i wake
up the fish is still fine)
4)My shrimp eat my leftover fish food that sink to the bottom is it alright ?
5)co2 release 1 bubble per second for a 2ft tank is it too much or just nice ?

Below is my new and first planted tank which i just done yesterday.

May i know how long will it took for the patch of grass on the sponge to stable or root into the soil and its will float a bit so i put 2 weight to make them sink on the soil.
    photo(1).jpgphoto.jpg
I hereby thanks all the bros here first for taking your time answering my question and giving me advice. Thanks

first of all, the plant at center is not an aquatic plant.

    Answering your question
    1) Different plants species grow differently, some plant does not even have a roots.
    2) Cycle mean to let the tank and filter run without fauna for couple a weeks. The purpose is for Beneficial bacteria (BB) build up in the filter media. The BB will confert toxic waste into less toxic nitrate.
    3) To be safe normally wait for 4 weeks
    4) Shrimps are scavenger, it will eat what ever left over.
    5) Depend on you light. More light mean faster photosynthesis mean need more CO2

if your fishes and shrimps are still surviving good for you. Typically they will not survive after a week or so if the condition are not right. As Shadow mentioned, it takes time for the tank to mature and provide a stable tank condition for the fishes and shrimp to survive.

You will need to change between 10~15% of water every week. as you have plants, i am not sure if you have CO2 as well. Else the plants will not do well after a few weeks

What shadow meant is that the plant will rot in your tank. Best to remove it. The one looked like fern in the middle.
Btw noticed, your bubble counter at the back. Is it in the tank or placed at the back of the tank?

the bubble counter is in the tank between is it enough or too much for 2ft tank to produce 1 bubble per second ?

Its meant to be a land plant (those used in paludarium tank setup) bro. Will die if you let it submerge for long.

The bubble counter best place outside looks weird when you place it inside the tank. 1 bps (bubbles per second) should suffice. Your plants doesn't look like high requirement plants. But fret not. You can adjust to 2 bps if it looks insufficient

Btw, whats the light wattage for this tank? looks abit dim

In order for you to have lesser issue with algae and healthy fishes, you will need to change water weekly.

I believe you have airstone as well from the bubble behind the tank. and if you also have CO2 and airstone, all the CO2 will be gone and not absorb to the water.

do not leave light on overnight unless you are trying to grow algae.

Between i just bought my master kit and measure , my NO3 is 40 /NO2 0/ PH 6.5/ KH40/ GH0 is it suitable to keep shrimp ?

just need to ensure that you have little bubble movement in the water from the filter then. else you will loose all the CO2.

I recommend that if you have co2 do not used any airstone. The plants will take in co2 and out comes o2 for the fishes. An ecosystem

    Best condition:-

Lights ON, CO2 ON(30 mins earlier) using solenoid with timer.Co2 OFF 30-1hr earlier than lights.

use air pump + air stone when lights are OFF(control by timer)..plants takes in o2 during lights off period (respiration period)

Some fish/shrimp are more hardy, but O2 is essential for non-photo period especially if you are not using solenoid where co2 is pumped into the tank 24hrs..

Check out my Blog on planted tank, good for newbies ( i am lazy to retype all the info i know, so please click and read below link... i hope you don't fall asleep while reading)

thanks for taking your time to help me out , just a question that co2 can leave it on 24/7 or must off it during certain timing ?
