To muthubaba no hard feeling i have doubt for the information you provide you don't even understand or know the term of resetting tank and you are here pointing to TS a direction for him to waste money. Please go read up more before you share information. You miss out TDS

To TS just being busybody i know it is none of my business but do you have other shrimps keeping experiences? If you have already and in CRS than you might give it a try. If you have not than advise to you don't waste such money.

Hi.. I think everyone would love to keep these beauties... but in my opinion, maybe you should try keeping CRS in the beginning before you indulge in these 2 variants/species... They are somewhat a little more tricky... I believe some shrimp keepers are very good at keeping them but they already have some experience in successful keeping and breeding of CRS....

i think the range you give is a very vague range of CRS also, they might be just another CRS variant but they do better in certain parameter... PH5.5-6.5 is a very huge range to follow.. having a zero in ammonia, nitrite is almost a must in every shrimp tank, and nitrate will be normally at a range instead of just zero.. one of the more important parameter will be TDS... I hope that you had some experience in keeping KK alive to teach the TS, or else you might make him waste quite a bit of money....

    Cheers and happy shrimping....

Do you have any experiences keeping shrimps before?

BKK are quite sensetive as their gene pool is very small. Much more sensetive than CRS.

Try to gain more experience before getting them.

Bro, seems like you have limited experiences with shrimps. When I read your questions, I feel scared too.

I agreed with most bro here to advise you to start with normal Crs first before diving into such grades shrimps.

    Hi Jeff,

If you have kept firered or above before and have adequate experience, yes you can and surely will know what to do.

You the moment you asked. If not all most will ask you to go gain some experience. It's not worth taking bkk or any high grade shrimp to risk.

Most brothers here start with and suffer some "tuition fee" before they do call pass the basic of shrimp keeping.

Re: Need Advice on Shrimp Tank

Thanks for sharing from all the Bros.

Yes. I had kept Fired Red before.
I would want to go for CRS first as a start base on what all the Bros had shared as KK and WR are quality shrimps and it is very painful to start of my 2 feet tank.

Any recommendation to start off with first to gain experience before going for high grades ones like i mention.

Love to keep those in future.

Re: Need Advice on Shrimp Tank

I had read that I need to cycle it for 1 month before introduce shrimps in.
Is it true as their survival rates would be affected if i don't?

    Hi Jeff,

The advice I could give to you is that make sure your tank is well-cycled (preferably 3 mths) so that to make sure all the water parameters and BB have matured and stabilized meanwhile on doing that ... try various grades of CRS first to see if they can survive and breed in your tank before you invest in these difficult beauties...

You mean you never do that when having fire red?

How was your Firered survival rate previously?

Re: Need Advice on Shrimp Tank

I cycled it for 2 weeks and then introduce them in.
They survive well but occasionally 1 or 2 died.
They still manage to breed but all come out cherry. Sianz

Better ask the shifu teach. You are keeping crs the stakes are higher.

Seen a few cycle 1-2 month.

    Hi There!

I have just started not long ago. Start with a common shrimp first, make sure everything is ok, shrimps are growing then add on. Even at times everything looks perfect. Somehow somewhere.... Things will require some adjustment.

    Hi,

I've an intention to keep CRS first as a kick start.
So what kind of grade should I go for as i understand that CRS has different Grades.

    Jeff,

Get the lower grades, B or C (i am not good with CRS grades, only bought culls before). The least anything happens pocket gets hurt less.
You need not worry, shrimp keepers here are super friendly and will flood you with answers/questions.

Remember the cycling 4 weeks - 8 weeks.
