Actually for cycling period will depend on what soil you used. Not forgetting what you have in the tank and what filteration you intend to use for your tank? The period been stated here is just a rough guide.

Will be better if you can list down the equipments you have for your tank? And purchase a set of test kits. Mainly ammonia, ph, gh, no2 and no3. Do the water cycle and water change as required. Some bros actually share their methods of doing the water change. Update on the water parameters every week and share with us the results.

With that, hopefully we can achieve the close to ideal parameters for your shrimps.

Will be good to show us your full tank shot as it give us a rough idea and there might be some information that might be useful to refer to.

    Thanks and appreciated.
Plenty of information in the stickies. Please do the homework. If after that you have any questions feel free to clarify whatever you do not understand.

Jeff, its easy to get poison by BKK. But they don't come cheap. Water cycling with ADA Amazonia II isn't a case of definite 4 weeks wait. The guys have no ill intent, what they said guides you to practise more before you embark the BKK journey. Heat wave almost here, hence take the chance to practise temp control with the easier shrimps first. A dead shrimp does not break your heart, it drops your heart. You'd pull your hair and ask what did I go wrong?! Okay, some waited 4, 6, 8 weeks...so just a guideline. Reason being each tank differs in size, water parameters, substrate, plants selection, accessories such as stones, driftwood etc.

So the one guiding is TDS reading along with the regular readings. For each type of shrimps, learn their biotope information. The key is to read more whilst cycling. Have fun : >

No.. You still have ammonia in your tank... Your ammonia should be zero.. And your nitrate is still at zero? You have lots of floating plants to absorb your nitrate fast enough?

PH, GH, KH looks fine.. What about your TDS?

Nope, 2 weeks cycle too short. i will say 4-8 weeks (but most folks by experience would say it's higher) at the minimum.
Btw: fishless cycle or with feeder fish/fishfood.

Yes. I have plants to absorb all the nitrate.
As for the TDS is around 100.

Can i put in some Oto or so to assist the water cycling?
