am thinking of putting the diffuser directly under a HOF, for the inlet to suck up to the filter department and flow down...i think it may work better, as the co2 will dissolve in the compartment with CRs.....

or am i wrong??

I did that once. Co2 quite well dissolved but there's issue with that setup

1) Water level must be maintained high to prevent waterfall effect or the co2 pretty much gone thanks to the surface agitation..

2) HOF making abit of noise from dissolving the Co2. (i was using Eheim Liberty 2041)

I think this would work better with canisters or internal filter whereby the outlet will be able to push the CO2 out into the tank.

If you using those GEX type HOF, I think should hardly have any issues since they have the thingy at the outlet part.

This won't work for various reasons. HOFs are designed in such a way that the water will come into contact with the air as it exits out of the filter. That way, you actually lose some of the dissolved CO2.
