Who can stop you from doing that? No one.
In fact I would consider that to be my 'dream setup' if I have a 3ft tank.
Whether they are placed opposite or side-by-side is a personal preference, either way will be good too.![]()
Can I use 2x HOF Eheim 2042 , placing opposite each other on a 3x1x1 ft tank?
If need be, I will put in a Eheim Pickup as well.
I will be keeping 5x L200a and 4x L134 together.
My fish list:
BEC, L14, L27c goldline, L27d goldline thunder, L27 xingu platinum, L47, L90a, L160, L190, L200A, L239, L255, L330, L418,
Steatocranus casuarius, Hyphessobrycon erythrostigma, Hyphessobrycon sp. White Fin, Puntius denisonii, Hyphessobrycon columbianus, Hemigrammus rythrozonus,
Satanoperca Daemon, Geophagus sp. ‘tapajós red head’, Geophagus steindachneri

LIFE IS UNBEARABLE WITHOUT A FISH TANK!!!
Should be ok I think if the tank is not heavily stocked. I've seen in my old secondary school, the DNT teacher hooked up 3 HOF on his 4ft Discus tank.
Advice from boss Felix
I was advised by a pleco keeping Bro to put OHF and a canister because pleco poos alot.
Also the cost of the livestock are not cheap, so rather be safe than sorry by using a more powerful filtration system.
Due to my space constraint, hooking up 2 powerful HOF and an internal filter is what I can do at the moment. Perhaps I can play with the media combo to achieve best mechanical filtration.
My 3ft has lapis sand and 10L of small lava rocks as substrate,so I think the biological filter is able to cope with the waste produced.
If you use a OHF, you can connect it to a powerful submerged pump in the tank itself, rather than a canister. The submerged pump will pump water from the tank bottom to the top of the OHF. The water will then flow back by gravity flow into the tank via all the layers of media. This can be a good arrangement for Plecos. You can place the submerged pump at the bottom to create a current flow direction to suck up the poop continuously.
But using two HOF is also workable if the water flow adjustments are correctly done.

I need to check on the height clearance to see if I can put in a ohf.

From what I've seen in some pleco keepers breeding tanks, they use a combination of Hamburger Mattenfilter - HMF (which is basically a large piece of sponge wedged into the tank) along with a canister filter.
A planted pleco tank by celticfish as an example.
Here's a thread on HMFs on a separate web forum: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...g-mattenfilter
The presence of the HMF increases the area for bacterial colonisation, so you don't have to deal with an OHF.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
