Definitely fertilisation since the deficiencies are seen on the new plant growth.

Dear All,
I have a 40cm x 20cm x 18cm tank about 16 litre which I had planted dwarf hairgrass, normal hairgrass, staurogyne and another stem plant with long leafs which I am not sure of the name. Another plant is a round leave type like pennyhort.
I am keeping Fire Red Shrimp and Sakura, which are producing shrimplets regularly. I have a 24W PL light, Gex M HOF and a fan 24/7 to maintain temp between 28C to 26C.
I dose LushGro and Florish Excel daily to ensure plant growth and these are shrimps safe so far.
However, the new grow leaves on the staurogyne and stem plants are turning yellow and brown despite the fertilizers. I am not sure if it is insufficient fert or light that cause the yellowing??
There are some spots of Green Spots algae on the glass and Green Hair Alage as well.

Can brothers help to advise how can I prevent the yellowing on the new grow leaves??
Thank you.

Squee,
Do you know which type of fertilizer that I need to add?? Thank you.
Lack of K?
The role of master and servant begin to cloud in the water..
For fertilizer , you need iron to prevent leaf turn yellow. add PO4 (Phosphate) to prevent green spot grow on glass or leaf.
For quick action, trim out all the yellow leaf and scratch out the green spot. Do not overdose iron else you will invited BBA

Hi Edmund,
Is iron harmful to shrimps?? Any recommendation which brand of Fertilizer to get for Iron and Phosphate that is Shrimp safe? Before the plants are healthy.

Yours is Lushgro Aqua or Micros? If it is Aqua, just double the fertilisation amount, keep the same dosage frequency and see how things go. If it is Micros, you might want to purchase Aqua since Micros does not provide nitrogen and potassium.
Because you're dosing Excel, plant growth is accelerated, therefore either something needed is missing, or not in sufficient quantity.

Squee,
Sorry for mis information on Lushgro. I thought Lushgro was Lush until I check again on GC website. I am using BorneoWild Lush and Florish Excel. I am looking at BorneoWild Essence K to supplement the current fertilizer. Is this ok to stop yellowing??
Thanks again for your help and advise.

I don't know about Borneo Wild so I can't help you
Either you're missing a nutrient or not doing in sufficient quantity.

Hi eastside, my staurogyne looks exactly like those in your photo. Wondering if you found the cause to your problem.
