Any possibility that you accidentally killed the bacteria colony in your filter? What filter media do you have in there?
Hi guys,
For the last week, the water in my 4ft planted tank suddenly turn a bit cloudy. Not those with large particles but looks more like powdery type of cloudyness. The only thing I did before that was changing a single layer of the white filter sponge in my Eheim 2026 filter. Thought it will make the water clearer. Any advice as to what cause the cloudyness?

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
I'm not sure the names of the media, one layer is white colour rings and another layer is white colour 'stones' but it came with the filter when I bought it brand new. I did wash the media with tank water when I change the sponge.
is your tank a new setup?
if so, how long?
maybe a bacteria bloom.
I suppose the bacteria has not really colonise themselves well enough. I guess you better leave it for a few days and observe what happen next. If it doesn't clear in a week then it'll be big problem. Guess what that rarely happens so chill out.
Cheers!
Benetay
The tank is abt 6 months old. First time changing the filter sponge and cleaning the media in the filter. So is this considered bacteria bloom? If yes, why and how does it happen? No sign of fish dying yet.
