Hey guys! I got a new pet catfish today! Her (or well, I think it's a her anyway) name's Stacy, and she doesn't like me much, yet...

This is her in the shop:

And her boyfriend. He was too big for me to bring home too! More than twice her size:

So she got scooped up, quad bagged and placed into a big styrofoam box as such:

Heres her at the train station:

    Waiting for the tram:

    In the tram:

Home at last with Mr Skeleton, but still in her box:

    Acclimatising in a little bucket:

    Home sweet home!:

With some of her little friends:

    Tadaa!:

Hope you guys enjoyed that! And I hope that Stacy will spend the next few decades living a happy life xD Sorry, all pictures were taken with iPhone3. Not exactly the best.

    Hi,

Welcome to the fourm. Good to see other hobbyist post such detailed "trips"

Oh, Stacy has nice tank mates.

Wow! Just curious. Are the prices of the livestock in London (you look like you're now in London, or at least in the UK) comparable to the prices over here in Singapore?

It must be a not easy trip back home, how long it takes to reach home? It's always interesting to learn about hobbist in other country experiences with their fishes

Re: My new pet catfish's little journey home!

so sorry for the late reply everyone!

thanks for all the good comments!

Erm, I bought her for 400 pounds, 800 sing. Yeah, i know its a shedload of money and i'm not rich but... she's 8 inches! So thats like 100 sing per inch haha.

I'm from Singapore so I'll bring her back on the plane, I'm just wondering how to do that at the moment because on the way home she did rip the triple bag and water started coming out through the styrofoam box. The flight home is 14 hours + transit I have to be able to pack her for 24 hours.

This is a random video I took yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw4BuO315Ok The description of why I took the video is there too

ahha. It was a long arduous journey, but I got her home in the end!

Very nice discus you got there!

Anyway, I would advice you to take caution when bringing in livestock out and in to a country. Check with the immigration authorities on the procedures involved, both UK and Singapore. It's better that you do this than risk discarding your $800 pleco.

Re: My new pet catfish's little journey home!

nice youtube video! did the discus fry manage to hatch or did Stacy intervene?

Stacy being a Panaque Cochliodon, isn't she aggresive?

I watched some youtube video on Panaque Cochliodon colliding with one another, or do they only behave this way to another of their own kind?

Are your L46 very scared of it?
