That depends on the size of the bubble counter right? Mine is a small little thing. I don't know how big is the biggest. Maybe I should be looking for the biggest ever b counter so I won't have to top up for a long long time. Any knows any particular brand and where to get it?
I was using the ADA counter which is slim and small, yet lasted 6 months without appreciable loss!.

    Good idea
Stuffing a few strands of the metallic wool used for washing pots and pans may help... some condensed water can backflow into the b counter from the vacuum effect created after solenoid shut-off but some water will still be lost.

Maybe the problem lies partly w the tubing material. What kind are you people using? Mine is most likely PVC (light green and gives off a certain odour). Maybe you guys are using silicone tubings. Although silicone elastomers are highly non-porous, there is still a certain degree of porosity. Loss of Co2 thru tubing? I would think so, but loss of vapour? Not likely since silicone is also highly hydrophobic.

I place my bubble counter in the tank itself below water surface.
so far it is always full. CO2 still goes into reactor and can see water level in reactor dropping when co2 pump in.

    Hi Bro,

What is the difference between placing the B.counter in the water compare to outside the tank?

    He's doing fractional distillation

I would think there's no big difference except you have more condensation of mist and backflow into b.c. Maybe slow down drop in water level but still need to top eventually

Oh ya, I've bought a new bc fr C328. I wanted to get the ADA but they don't carry this brand so I got the Professional Aquarium Brand. It's 4-5 times the capacity of my current Dymax set. That alone will help.

I didn't really have to top up my bubble counter for almost 7 months liao.
I think is because backflow from reactor always fills counter back up.
Water in counter almost always full

Here's a picture of my new and old b.c...

W the new one that's bigger, topping up is a lot easier.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the pic. This is the one I am using. I got this from NA for $6 but mine evaporate quite fast, my take is that after I have increase to 3-4bps, it evaporates faster. Whereas previously, when it was at 1-2bps, it was totally alright.

    Hi Francis

    4-5 bps...that's a lot of gas

When I was using the smaller Dymax bc, I had 3 bps but when i switched to this one, I was down to 1 bps. So, it's all very subjective and depends on the diameter of the inlet.
