common species are apisto caca, aggasazzi. they are relatively easy to keep and breed
Hi Guys,
Would appreciate if you could recommend me a nice and simple species of apistogramma for a planted tank. Tank is heavily planted, with shrimps and temperature at 26 degrees. ( 3 footer ) I have no prior experience with them so nothing too exotic please, thanks.
Regards,
Michael

My suggestion, Apistogramma trifasciata. If you can get a nice pair, they are fairly easy to get to spawn. The male in breeding dress with red tips to the dorsal fin rays is a stunner. Not very aggressive and fairly docile. Another option, Taeniacara candidi.

Thanks guys, will check out those fishes you guys recommended.

for the easy to more difficult and demanding apisto.

Yes, i agree with stormhawk on this particular species. Affordable price, yet the fish is no less beautiful than those expensive type. Hardy, easy to breed, and not too agressive.

C328 and Y618 will usually have a few of the normal species listed above. C328 has had a pair of Apisto steindachneri for quite long. They are also a pretty good so-called beginner species but do grow slightly larger than the average apistos.
JZX also brings in apistos occasionally and are bringing a batch in in their next shipment I think. However they tend to be more uncommon species and might cost more.

last week i saw apisto agassizi tefe in C328 and they're gone, and a small tank near those tank with bags of sakura i saw candidi but the condition wasn't very good.
For Apisto. agassizii "tefe", they are not true agassiziis but a very close species and is normally referred to A.cf agassizii "tefe". I read that offsprings from crosses of this species with other true agassiziis would result in offsprings which are not viable. However, I do not know whether those offered at C328 are true "tefes" or wrongly labelled agassiziis.

hmm, that's new for me. thanks for the clarification. the tefe looks a little weird to me though, the head is kinda out of shape as compare to a normal agassizi tefe.
Very often, the Apistos that the shops get from the farms are not very good in quality. I've seen a Tefe with a rather short body once.
If only Toh's apisto farm near Teo's was still open. They had some excellent common apistos.

you can try borelli as well. very peaceful and showy species. Alternatively, you can opt for a pair of dicrossus maculatus or even german rams.
The possibilities are broad.
Let me know if you are keen on a wild pair of adult Dicrossus Maculatus .

Some home breeder friends whom i know
Bitanaetia Menti red Juvenile - Bernie
Barlowi red - Bernie
Hongsloi - Jitticus
I saw the following at Y618 yesterday:
1. Borelli
2. Veijita
3. Trisfasciata
4. Aggasazzi (there was a more specific genus to it, couldn't rememer what was)
Well, I snapped up the Veijitabut you have 3 others to choose from!
Also, I saw yesterday in the killies tank at Y618 what look like some juvenile apisto caca's and an unidentified female apisto. If anyone does pop by over the weekend, could you do me a favour and help verify this? I don't suppose it would be good for the apistos and killies to share the tank, especially when there aren't enough hiding spaces. I saw one of the juvenile male apisto taking a pot shot at one killie and winning the exchange, quite a sight but not good for business I believe.
Need something to scratch that itchy hand of mine.
Don't act smart. Be smart!
Hi, i'm actually looking for some young juvenile apisto or confirm pair apisto, prefer small species
