Just done this last night for a betta fish. First time and kind of satisfied with it so just sharing as I have seen other sharing too. Hope it's alright. Actually doing this for my girlfriend's tank as her tank looks so bare without anything except a marimo moss ball.

    Everything is new.

Tank size 30x15x11CM, with White Oyama on 3 sides.
    GEX White Sand
1 Mini Nana, the other 2 not sure of the name.
    Some pebbles
    OF HOB Filter
    Aquazonic LED Light

Added API Stress Coat, AZOO betta guard almond leaf extract, betta essence and a little aquarium salt.

Not sure if have to wash the sand because the packaging is totally japanese. Nevertheless, rinsed them a few times a little by a little at a time. However, after flooding the tank, water still doesn't seem crystal clear. Hope it clears up after a few water changes.

Cut the provided sponges that came with the filter smaller and threw in some Biohome plus from my other tank and dosed BacterLife.

Letting the tank run for awhile first and let the bacteria populate. Add in in a few days. It is currently in a spare tank.

Yea bettas get bored they are super kaypoh fish. Get some decorations like caves tunnels or driftwood w holes.. Get some tall plants.. Nanas are excellent their leaves can support bubble nests and also provide surface for bettas to lounge on. Maybe can also get them tank mates. Like a snail or some ghost or yamato shrimps. But if u have shrimps u ll need a filter

Ouh.. Okayy. Lol.. Think will probably get a cave. Nope, lol this betta is very aggressive. Attacks and kill anything else in its tank. Tried a SAE and a Otto. Both was attacked. At most can probably only snail. Intend to get snail later on after a few weeks to let the new snail have stuff to clean and eat.

Safest way is to create partitions within the same tank.

Nice setup. You can mix female bettas but as bro stormhawk mention, males will have to be separated

Nice set up. Very clean look. But IMO.. with white sand, will dirty very fast.. maybe black will be a better choice. You will not notice the dirt so fast.. haha

i had those old school playground color sand (light brown), and within a week, the mid layer became black while the top layer is covered with poo. Im not sure how those manage to escape my 2 filter though, but i think dark color sand is always better if your betta is light color.
