They take a while to work on diatoms. Had a bad diatom attack before, they didn't clear it very fast that time. Ended up scrape most off with a card and they cleared the remainder.

I have one question, how to i vacuum the sudo fine sand? i have alot of debris, left over food, poop etc but its impossible to use a gravel vac without siphoning the sand![]()

My otos were useless too.
I wrapped a small piece of rough sponge (the one my mother use to scrub pots...) at the end of a chopstick and tied it tightly with rubber band, and that has been my most effective GSA removing tool.
But then again, i only have 2 nano tanks. Using a chopstick tip to clean a 3 footer will be hell...
After 3 months from set up, the diatoms never return again. I guess it's part of the 'new tank syndrome'.
