tank water tinted due to
a) driftwood or blackwater
b) fishfood. sometypes.
I found that my tank water is slightly more tinted in orange colour than normal. Can we tell the condition of the water this way based our your experience experience?
Is it true that tank water is normally slightly tinted in orange colour? Why is it so?
Tank size: 120L included the sand.
Light : 2 x 36 watts.
Critter in my tank:
6 platyies.
6 rummy nose
3 cardinal tetra
1 cherry barb
3 rainbow fish
2 cory
1 golden algae eater
about 10 - 15 shrimps

if it is the driftwood that causes this, will there be any harm to the fishes inside the tank.

no, the tanin acid is supposely used to destress fishes.. so its fine.. problem with such staining will be the reduction of light penetration
You didn't soak your driftwoods long enough in boiling water...

I forgot to mention that my driftwood used for Java Moss was in the tank for 4 years already.
May be due to overfeeding?
I think I have to remove my Java Moss with the driftwood to trace the culprit.

overfeeding? or the food coloring? could it be the lights? or some reflection?
