Dear all, collecting rain water for own use is illegal here in Singapore, all water that falls from the sky belong to the government. This is a little known law, and collection of water in pails by citizens are let off with both eyes closed by the government. That is why no landed property owners actually dig a hole in the ground or have medium large scale above ground water tank to store rain water.

It's illegal to collect. Illegal to dispose as well.

Probably a fine, and worst if they find mosquito breeding going on in your rain water tubs.

This should be linked to the catchment areas. I have no chance to meet a friend in NEA to check. But if it violates law we best watch our posts.

The second link makes a reference to the case in question. Given further info on other forums like sammyboy.com's Alfresco section, I think they have relaxed this particular regulations, though I'd say that if you do collect it, do so at your own risk.
