    hi guys

question to ask, actually i was thinking, if a person is going to buy a ph tester and a kh tester, actually buying the Ph tester will be enough to tell you roughly about the Kh in the water

because i read a few books saying that lower buffered water usually have low kh to 0, wherby high alkaline water will have high kh, then what is the point of getting a kh tester, waste of money i think, KH and PH is related any suggestions?? :P

    hello hailiang,

kH and pH are not directly related to each other. According to what i know, a high kH will means that the pH will not drop too much if one tries to lower down the pH by using CO2. kH/pH will together determine the CO2 level of the tank(if no buffer is added).

Actually, KH and pH is very much related. If all else (CO2, buffers, etc) is constant, higher KH is give higher pH.

But measuring of KH and pH is however totally different. Read up on carbonates and pH and you will know why.

Do a search on the web you will find lots of article on that.
