Recently i re-scaped my 180l tank into something close to what i've always wanted, an amazon biotope. well thats just too troublesome, with black water and all. so basically i just went for the looks instead

    now i need opinions on
    1) where i can improve?
    2) what fauna should i add?, to make things more lively
    - i already have a few fishes
    tetras(7), Kribnensis(5), Clown loaches(5-1inches), SAE(2), Corydora(3)
i was thinking of maybe a pair of whiptail plecos, fan shrimps?

Looks good. For fauna, maybe a couple of angels like the manacaprus or Altums?

    Re: My amazonish? 3ft!

hmm have thought of the angle fishes, but i've heard they grow quite big?
the clown loaches i have takes really long to reach sizes that is too big for this tank thats why i considered having them.
would small angelfishes take very long to reach sizes too big for a 180l ?
also i've just read that angel fishes prefer acidic water?
but the fishes i have prefer almost neutral water

    Re: My amazonish? 3ft!

Hi. You mentioned you have had wanted a tank with Amazon feel right?

So from the limited knowledge that I have, angels, corys, whiptails and tetras are good choices. Clown loaches originated from Thailand and therefore they are not suitable.

For angels to grow to max size in a 3 feet, a lot of factors will be at play. Factors such as frequency of water change, types of diet, available free swimming size and depth of tank will affect the size of the fish.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: My amazonish? 3ft!

yes i understand clown loaches are not suitable, but i already have them from a previous tank :/
and yes i want the amazon feel but not an biotope.
my tank is not that big, its 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 , so the depth may not be ideal right? i only change about 20liters per week for the tank.
i have actually considered angelfishes , but am unsure ):

Your scape looks good..... For fauna you can add cardinals tetras, lemon tetras, rummy nose, bleeding heart tetras, more cories, 2 speices of apisto (pair), pencil fish n hatchet fishes for the top level of your tank. Forget about the angels though they look nice in it cos for long-term wise, not advisable.

thanks ! hmm more tetras ! thats a good idea.
As I already have 5 kribnensis, is it advisable to add a pair of apisto?

Whiptails will have problem getting to food if the SAE are around. Shrimps will get harassed by some of the fish.
Your tank looks perfectly fine to me. If you want a more lively tank then add active colorful swimmers that occupy the mid to top level. Rainbow fish, dennison barb, Congo tetra, danios, guppy, platy or swordtail are some of the fish.

Most biotope or continent themed tanks are not hard to achieve, you just have to do some research.
You now have tetras and cory from South America.
Java fern, clown loach, SAE from Asia.
    Kribs and anubias from africa.

Rainbow fishes can school too. may not be as well as the notoriously schooling rummy noses but they can, and will look good to contrast the colours of the tank.

I really like the layout of your tank! My only suggestion or point about your tank is that the centre piece seems bare at the moment. Adding in some plants might help to spruce up the tank. Keep it with plants species; the anubias and ferns you have added are really nice and bright.

The only reason why I didnt go full on biotope is because, i already have the fishes and plants with me and i did not want to waste them or sell them because they are a joy to watch, especially the loaches and cories. Selling them, sourcing for true biotope species is a hassle in my opinion. Therefore, i only went for the look and not a biotope! seems to work out somewhat! so far only a few tetras moved on . I have been going around shops in singapore and looking at different fishes for this tank, would write down what u suggest and continue keeping a lookout! for now, maybe i should just let the tank mature more!

If you keep normal angels, your tank depth if 1.5 is fine. Maybe just a pair. You can consider rams as well.

Do remember to post lots of pictures when you've decided on and have bought the fishes. Good luck!

it looks something like this ? the website shows that its a serpae tetra?

Show us the full tank shot. It will be interesting to see the serpae tetras in the tank. Do they school?

yes, am going to get the L182, maybe a pair as well as afew more corydoras. Wont be getting RAM as i have cichlids already, although they look really cute!

honestly now, im thinking of removing the cichlids as they are always hiding and almost never come out. Think it would be much worst with the tetras in
