Like to share a 30cm cube that I setup for my daughter about 2 months ago. Mostly pictures..no setup details. The name, Taiwan Tree, comes from the Taiwan moss that I tied to several pieces of DW shaped / glued together to form the tree. The moss has grown beautifully well. I hope it will be full soon so I can get the desired semi-umbrella look. The lawn is flame moss anchored to many small pieces of thin slates. Some mini nanas here and there. Powered by Beamworks Ultrabright LED and DIY CO2.

Day 17 pictures - added Downoi for some contrasting green

Day 36 pictures - added the fauna. Some pink zebra danios and guppies. But got rid of the guppies soon after.

After almost 2 months. The tree has almost taken up shape. Love the Taiwan fronds..lovely small triangular spiky-like. Beautiful shade of green.
The flame moss lawn has also grown well...time for a trim I guess.

Nicely planted, beautiful tree. Such growth rates in two months, did you add any liquid fertilizer?

Yes. CO2 at 1bps and 8hrs of light daily. I use Lush NPK once every 2 days...but I guess you don't need to because moss can grow easily even without fertilizer. I dosed after adding the Downoi but will be replacing them with Staurogyne soon. I find Staurogyne to be more hardy and more tolerant.

    Re: My Taiwan Tree

I'm using DIY CO2. I never had much luck with DIY CO2 it was always leaking around the cap until I found the best solution. A kind of plastic bond + super glue. Very easy. Hope I have the time to do a video and upload for sharing soon.

    Re: My Taiwan Tree

Actually my question is not so much about the bonding around the cap as to prevent leakage but more so the pressure the DIY CO2 is able to generate in order to get it out of the diffuser. Any one has any idea here?

can i ask what glue did you use to glue your tree together? for the longest time i wanted to combine the wood together but i'm afraid that i use the wrong glue which will release some harmful chemicals into the water.

That's right. But I use very small amount of super glue although I prefer to tie the branches using nylon thread. I also use the glue gun. So far so good. I drill holes on the main trunk when the branches are small enough to insert into the drilled holes and sealed using super glue.. This way is best. Most secured.

    Re: My Taiwan Tree

you're using the standard ceramic diffuser? cos if im not wrong, it needs quite a high pressure to make it bubble through.. Your DIY CO2 is producing such a high pressure huh?

    Re: My Taiwan Tree

Yes. Initially i had problems with diy co2 but when i used this plastic bonding stuff, there is no more leakage.
No problem getting 1 or 2bps with normal diffuser. But i always prefer the cheaper airstone type to the glass
diffuser as the bubbles are finer and very easy to clean. I have a few extra pieces to replace while i clean the old one.
