There is an Indonesian AQ member who has a built a large planted tank... big enough to be a pool and has posted much about it. I just can't recall who. Perhaps another member can post a link.
Hello everyone,
I came across this website and it got me interested on an idea of building natural swimming pools/fish ponds in rural areas of Borneo.

There's a general guide on this link:
http://www.motherearthnews.com/Do-It...ming-Pool.aspx
The premise is that the pool with cleanse itself,is maintenance free, preserves the environment, based on natural filters and scientific principles, thus eliminating the use of harmful chlorine. Further improvements include a UV sanitizers and aerators/pumps powered by solar energy. It is basically an effort which will hopefully spark a green movement on a different level, something that I think Borneo sorely needs.
Not knowledgeable on botany, my personal quest is to gather info to compile a list of common water plants in Borneo that are suitable for such projects. Side benefits would be to collect information on readily attainable solar equipment and pumps around Borneo.
The in depth knowledge of aquatic plants by members in this forum would prove to be invaluable. I am sure aquariums lovers would salivate at the idea of having an aquarium the size of a pond, maintenance free with crystal clear water!
Would greatly appreciate input:
Thank you.

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

My 2 ft tank
Flora: Anubias barteri var Nana, var "Gold" and "mini", Crypto Wendtii, C.parva, Marsilea Hirsuta, Flame Moss, Hygrophila Polysperma, H.Violacea & H.Corymbosa, US Fissiden
Fauna: Guppy, Pelvicachromis Pulcher, Nannacara Anomala, Laetacara Araguaiae 'Buckelkopf'
I think if you intend to do a small shallow pond, the use of Cryptocorynes with trees shading the pond will work very well.
